Accreditation
Miami Children's Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical
education for physicians.
Credit Hours/Designation
Miami Children's Hospital designates this educational activity for a
maximum of 53 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition
Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually
spent in the educational activity.
The American Medical Association has determined that physicians not licensed in the US who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA category 1 credit.
Learning Objectives
This course will present new, pediatric state-of-the-art knowledge and
topics relevant to the practice of pediatrics. It will synthesize for
the practicing pediatrician knowledge of Adolescent Medicine, Allergy
& Immunology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology,
Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery,
Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Preventive Medicine/Community
Pediatrics, Pulmonology, Radiology, Rheumatology and other childhood
conditions. It will improve skills in patient management in both the
outpatient and hospitalized setting.
Upon completion of the program, the participant should be able to:
- Recognize new state-of-the-art knowledge in pediatric care;
- Enhance and advance one's knowledge in different pediatric subspecialties;
- Apply these newly acquired skills to the management of various
childhood diseases.
Faculty Disclosure/Conflict of Interest Resolution Statement
The "Conflict of Interest Disclosure Policy" of Miami Children's Hospital requires that faculty participating in any CME activity disclose to the audience any relationship(s) with a pharmaceutical or equipment company. Any presenter whose disclosed relationship proves to create a conflict of interest with regard to their contribution to the activity will not be permitted to present. Miami Children's Hospital also requires that faculty participating in any CME activity disclose to the audience when discussing any unlabeled or investigational use of any commercial product or device not yet approved for use in the United States. Whenever a faculty member has reported financial relationships with one or more commercial interests, Miami Children's Hospital works with them to resolve such conflicts to ensure that the content presented is free of commercial bias. The content of the presentation is required to meet this standard:
- A slide will be prepared addressing disclosures;
- Disclosures will also be added to handouts and the syllabus;
- Disclosures will be announced by the moderator verbally to participants.
